Since 2013, OneSight has partnered with local governments and organizations to bring permanent solutions, eye health education, and vision care research to Asia. Currently, we have 20 active vision centers in Bangladesh, 34 OneSight supported vision centers throughout China, 20 OneSight supported vision centers in India and 1 active vision center in Timor Leste.
OneSight’s sustainable work in China has succeeded in promoting real change in the country. In Northwestern China, our centers are located in rural communities throughout Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, and Ningxia Province and mainly focus on serving school-aged children. The research conducted in partnership with Stanford’s Rural Education Action Program (REAP) coupled with the success of the centers operated by Smart Focus has shifted Chinese policy on vision care, prompting the Chinese president to call for more actions to solve the vision care problems of Chinese students. The impact is clear: 0 policies were in place in 2014, and now there are over 45.
