Clear sight can fundamentally transform a child’s life, allowing them to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams. However, lack of access to quality eye care is still a major problem in the U.S., with 1 in 4 American students living with an undiagnosed vision problem. That’s why Pearle Vision and OneSight are coming together to launch a new program: ABSee (pronounced A-B-C). The program’s mission is to unlock the potential of every school-age child in every community in which we own and operate a Pearle Vision. The program will provide free eye exams and corrective eyewear to children in need in communities throughout North America, where Pearle Vision EyeCare Centers are located.
In honor of World Sight Day on October 10th—a global initiative to bring attention to blindness and vision impairment—volunteers from Pearle Vision and OneSight came together to conduct free eye exams and provide glasses to 202 students in need at a Las Vegas school. The team found that 89% of the students examined needed glasses. This marks the first of many planned vision care clinics, the first of which kicked off on October 1st . From Atlanta to Las Vegas, and Toronto to Puerto Rico—ABSee will be on the road onboard OneSight’s state-of-the-art mobile vision unit. This full-service vision clinic on wheels invites patients in to be taken through the entire clinic process, from vision screening to picking out a pair of glasses.
“OneSight is proud to work with Pearle Vision to bring clear sight to students in need across our local communities. We believe everyone deserves access to clear sight and by working together, we can help students see and learn to their potential this school year and beyond.”
Pearle Vision was founded by Dr. Stanley Pearle, whose mandate was to “take care of the people.” The company has long prided itself on doing just that, inspiring trust in its patients and adopting the now-iconic slogan, “Nobody cares for eyes more than Pearle.”
“Pearle Vision has been a long-time supporter of OneSight, and we are thrilled to bring our relationship to the next level with ABSee. We know that getting a pair of glasses can be life-changing for a child with a vision problem. With ABSee, we are underscoring our commitment to ensure that every child, especially those with financial need, has access to quality eye care and corrective eyewear.”
