Cincinnati-Based OneSight Teams Up with EyeMed Vision Care to Provide Vision Care Services to Nearly 300 Kids & Adults in Need Throughout Cincinnati

Cincinnati, OH – Dec. 20, 2021 – On Dec. 13 – 15, OneSight, a Cincinnati-based leading global vision care nonprofit, collaborated with EyeMed Vision Care to offer free eye exams and glasses as prescribed to nearly 300 children and adults in the Cincinnati area. Out of the patients seen, 94% percent needed glasses. The three-day charitable clinic was sponsored by EyeMed.

The event addressed unresolved vision needs for individuals and families throughout Cincinnati who may otherwise lack access to eye exams and glasses. OneSight leveraged its proven clinic model and manufacturing capabilities to execute the clinic at Xavier University.

According to a study by OneSight and Deloitte, there are more than 1 billion people globally who need glasses, but don’t have access to get them. Studies show that clear sight can dramatically impact learning, job performance and earning potential. Clear sight can help students learn up to twice as much in school and can help increase a worker’s productivity by 35 percent, enabling them to earn 20 percent more. Eye exams and glasses act as powerful tools that can play a significant role in helping lift people out of poverty by enabling education and employment.

“OneSight and EyeMed are united in the same purpose and passion to provide access to vision care and eyeglasses for all – EyeMed members or not,” said Lukas Ruecker, EyeMed president. “We are proud that our EyeMed partners and employees, together with OneSight, came together to give children and adults in Cincinnati the opportunity to live life to the fullest with clear sight.”

“EyeMed Vision Care’s continued dedication to OneSight drives our ability to give back to patients with the greatest need. Thanks to EyeMed’s generosity, we’ve provided free eye exams and glasses to kids and adults in Cincinnati who would otherwise lack access,” said K-T Overbey, President & Executive Director, OneSight. “We know that access to vision care can be life changing, and we’re grateful to our doctors and volunteers for helping us ensure that lack of access to vision care is not a barrier for the Cincinnati community.”
